FETHIYE RIP OFF

Wherever we've been, till now,we've been pretty sure that when eating at a place frquented by locals we were sure to:
a) get good food
b)get good value for money

Well till FETHIYE this has very much been the case.
However after two lunches here we've been ripped off on both occasions.
Yesterday we had a couple of small dishes at a very local place which was charged at almost exactly 2X the normal price ( we're pretty much au fait by now with local prices)
Today we had a similar experience where we each had a wrap (dondurma) similar to a gyro in Greece and costing between 6 and 10 TL anywhere else we've been.
We got the bill for 32 TL where 20TL had very clearly been scratched out on the bill (in a most amateurish fashion) and a 3 and 2 scribbled over what very obviously had been 20.
I paid and then pointed it out to the waitress and let her know that we knew we'd  been ripped off,and suggested that she make it more worthwhile next time .
Said that this was not the way to do business.
She ,very sheepishly tried to explain how the price of meat etc. had risen recently,.............huh????

Looks like Fethiye's not the place to go here in Turkey,........but reminds one of a valuable lesson in Turkey,........always ask the price of anything before eating here!!
Pity,but that's the way it is 😬

FETHIYE

What a nice place!
We took the water taxi from Calis beach across to the main harbour this morning and walked around this ancient town, which is presently reconstructing an ancient amphitheatre with new marble finishes.
Amazing town with great markets and pretty upmarket homes and yachts.
Another great lunch of local cuisine up a side street and came across a very nice modern supermarket which had everything we needed to put together a tasty meal this evening at our little apartment.
Our spacious balcony has views over the surrounding mountains and is kinda apart from the rest of the hotel, making it quite special.
A lot better than a room.

FETHIYE

We came through by bus yesterday to Fethiye where we're located between the city and yacht basin, about 5 km along the coast.
The boats shown in the photos are water taxis ferrying folk to the yacht basin vicinity.
We're staying at an apartment for the next few nights with a kitchenette and swimming pool and a great view from our rooftop balcony.
Nice to be able to hang out in an outside area to enjoy a beer or glass of wine ( or both😁) at sunset.
