AROUND HOI AN

Hoi an (called "the ancient city") is without doubt one of the jewels of Vietnam (there are many more,...HUE,...Ninh Bin etc.).

It's a world heritage site and famous for it's  quaint French colonial buildings, and amazing Vitnamese cuisine.

Most regions in vietnam have their specific speciality dishes,..  one of Hoian's is Cao lau, a dish made with an unusually thick noodle which utilises local underground well water in it's production. It includes grilled pork and is topped with crispy pork crackling.

We'd had the usual meat version last time we were here so we tried it last night at a vegeterian place I'd  seen on youtube. Turned out to be awesome at a slightly inflated cost of around R80 for the Two of us 😀.
