BIKING-HOI AN

We hired a great little 125cc Honda yesterday morning and headed to An Bang beach again

Each section of the beachfront here has a restaurant attached ,situated directly behind it.

I recalled ,from our previous trip, that the approx R65 one pays for the recliners is offset when one orders a meal at the respective associated restaurant.

We paid our 100VND (R65) and relaxed for an hour or two, till a pretty blustery wind picked up and threatened to take an umbrella or two with it.

So we retreated to the restaurant for lunch.

Had a cao lau and a huge plate of vegetable spring rolls. Total cost was 180VND including 2 Saigon beers.

So less the 100VND discount our lunch amounted to just 80VND (R60).

The motorbike has been a gamechanger,....just fire her up and head out into the organised chaos that is Vietnam roads.

Vietnam has the most mopeds per capita than any other country. So it's mainly bikes,...and they come at you from all directions,...but it works! The traffic flows,...very few snarl ups in spite of the congestion.

Families of up to 4 on a 100cc bike,...bikes with 10m trailers loaded to the hilt, construction girders and rebar. You name it!

When crossing the road  as a pedestrian one simply keeps walking  and the traffic flows around you.

Our little 125cc Honda,...is incredibly fuel efficient and more than powerful enough to carry the two of us wherever we desire.

We'll  probably be taking a ride back to Danang 2morrow (30km) to do the famous scenic Huy van pass.
