For the 1st time whilst travelling I had purchased data on arrival at Hanoi airport.
My present phone has facility for 2 Sim cards and it's a simple exercise to slip the new card in, allowing immediate use for grab (,Uber equivalent but far cheaper) and Google maps etc.
What a game changer... I managed last night to locate a couple of places recommended on YouTube videos,and we had the "best" banh mi in town at "madame khan's queen banh mi".
It was awesome!
Banh mi is a kinda staple theoughout vietnam,a legacy of their 100 subjugation to French colonialism.Comprising the crispiest baguette filled with your choice of grilled meat/chicken and crispy cucumber and herbs,papaya etc.,smothered with a spicy garlic chili sauce (R20-R25).
Then off to the amazing vegetarian place described in my previous blog (we're not vegetarian).
Washed down with a couple of beers (R10-R20 even at restaurants) then back to our hotel.A pretty busy day....Cheryl has a blister 🫣
