Well till FETHIYE this has very much been the case.
However after two lunches here we've been ripped off on both occasions.
Yesterday we had a couple of small dishes at a very local place which was charged at almost exactly 2X the normal price ( we're pretty much au fait by now with local prices)
Today we had a similar experience where we each had a wrap (dondurma) similar to a gyro in Greece and costing between 6 and 10 TL anywhere else we've been.
We got the bill for 32 TL where 20TL had very clearly been scratched out on the bill (in a most amateurish fashion) and a 3 and 2 scribbled over what very obviously had been 20.
I paid and then pointed it out to the waitress and let her know that we knew we'd been ripped off,and suggested that she make it more worthwhile next time .
Said that this was not the way to do business.
She ,very sheepishly tried to explain how the price of meat etc. had risen recently,.............huh????
Looks like Fethiye's not the place to go here in Turkey,........but reminds one of a valuable lesson in Turkey,........always ask the price of anything before eating here!!
Pity,but that's the way it is 😬
