ANTALYA

Over the past 20 years we've visited Antalya 3 times and our arrival here yesterday confirmed my previous view that it's the nicest city to visit here in Turkey.
We're in a fantastic boutique hotel ,right in the centre of the old city of Kaleici which, apart from the amazing ,omnipresent "living ruins" in the form of the old city walls,Hadrian's gate way,and various Roman and Ottoman structures, the streets come alive after dark with restaurants and modern youngsters.
Last night we had the most amazing gourmet burgers at a reknowned, trendy establishment in the heart of the city, then walked a hundred metres to a place with the most amazing young Turkish duo where beers cost not much more than they do at the local supermarkets where I generally go through three pints or so whilst walking around here in Turkey.
By the way beer prices are relatively high here at around R30/500 ml from supermarkets and range between R40 and R60/ pint sitting down at a restaurant.
Tax on alcohol is very high here and push the prices somewhat, but restaurant food is very similar,if not cheaper than SA.
The public transport systems here are incredibly modern and efficient!
Yesterday,on arrival at the bus terminus located on the other side of the city,we simply purchased a ticket on the very efficient adjacent tram terminus, and it cost us just 7TL (R28) for both of us to be transported to a station right outside Hadrian's gate, the gateway to the old city Kaleici.

This morning we went down to the most spectacular cafe/bar located down in a bay allowing direct access via stairs into the deep ocean.
We were surprised to find that it costs just 12TL ( R48) to use this private "beach" with umbrellas, loungers, showers with a small premium to pay for food and drink whilst there.
That's where we'll be heading tomorrow after transferring to our other hotel after breakfast tomorrow morning.
Photos to follow for you guys back there in a wintry SA 😂
